Nate Manos is known by his peers and blues fans alike as one of the premier Blues, R&B & Soul singers and guitar players on the Chicago music scene. Nate has multiple residencies at Chicago’s premier nightclubs Blue Chicago, Buddy Guy's Legends, and the legendary Rosa’s Lounge. Nate has worked and played with countless Chicago Blues greats such as Jimmy Johnson, A C Reed & The Sparkplugs, Nellie “Tiger” Travis, Shirley Johnson, Laretha Weathersby, Rico McFarland, Chico Banks, Pete Galanis, Omar Coleman, Sheryl Youngblood. Nate also briefly co-fronted his own project with Delmark Recording artist and Omar Coleman, and blues guitar great and one of the original Sons Of Blues, Dan Carelli, in a band called “The Troubled Minds”. Nate has been blessed to share festival and nightclub stages with some of his idols and mentors, such as Buddy Guy, Jimmy Johnson, Chicago, Kool & The Gang, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, George Thorogood, Les Getrex, A C Reed, and Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials.

Raised in a small beach town outside of Tampa, Florida, Dave Herrero was introduced to the local and national music scene though a family friend, sneaking out of military school at age 15 to regularly to see bands like the Arc Angels and Johnny Winter, and to go to a local blues jam at the Green Iguana on Monday nights, where local heroes like James and Lucky Peterson would frequently pop in.
Herrero got his start as a professional touring musician in 1996 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, then moved to Austin, TX and joined Archie Bell and the Drells (of "Tighten Up" fame). In Austin, he quickly immersed himself into the Austin music community, playing with the likes of Gary Clark Jr, Charlie Sexton, Lazy Lester, Matt Powell, Seth Walker all the while starting the Blues Society of Austin with friends, Mark "Kaz" Kazanoff, Nancy Coplin and Nicole Shiro. Rick King's Royal Hustle
Rick King, a native of Chicago's South Side, has established himself as a versatile and accomplished musician in the world of funk and soul. With a career spanning over two decades, King has made a name for himself as both a skilled drummer and a charismatic frontman.
King's musical journey began behind the drums, where he honed his craft playing for legendary artists such as KoKo Taylor, Buddy Guy, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, and B.B. King. His talents took him on global tours, allowing him to share stages with some of the most influential figures in blues and rock 'n' roll.
As a founding member of the funk-soul-jam band Lubriphonic, King further showcased his musical prowess. During his time with the band, he not only played drums but also took on the role of producer, contributing to five of their records.
In recent years, King has embarked on a new chapter in his musical career, stepping out from behind the drums to front his own band, Rick King's Royal Hustle. John Primer has undisputedly helped shape the sound and style of Chicago blues. The echoes of tradition from the birthplaces he played, such as Maxwell Street, Theresa's, Checkerboard, and Rosa's Lounge, can be heard in every chord he plays. John Primer is a true Chicago Blues Living Legend.
Born in 1945 on a Mississippi sharecropper's land, Primer was inspired by his family's hard work, field songs, and the blues. His dream was to one day play with the legendary Muddy Waters.
In 1963, Primer moved to Chicago and began his journey to becoming a great bluesman. He started with a steady gig at the legendary Maxwell Street and then played seven nights a week for seven years at the famous Theresa's Lounge, where he was taught by the founding fathers of the blues.
Primer's talent caught the attention of Willie Dixon, who took him on tour with his Chicago Blues All-Stars Band. In 1981, Primer's dream came true when he got to play with Muddy Waters, who called him to lead his band, a life-changing experience.
After Muddy's passing, Primer joined Magic Slim & The Teardrops for 14 years, traveling the world. In 1995, he began leading his own band, The Real Deal Blues Band. Primer has been recorded on more than 87 albums, with 17 under his own name, and has written and produced over 55 songs.
Primer's contributions to the blues have been widely recognized. He has received two Grammy Award nominations, two Lifetime Achievement Awards, been inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame, awarded the "Muddy Award," and won numerous Blues Music Awards and Blues Blast Awards. John Primer is a true Chicago Blues Icon, whose music continues to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.

Rosa's Lounge is excited to announce the long-awaited return of its legendary Blues-Jam, now scheduled to take place on the third Wednesday of each month. Since its establishment in 1984, Rosa's Blues-Jam has been a stage for iconic blues personalities such as Chico Chism, Buddy Scott, Valerie Wellington, James Wheeler, Melvin Taylor, Sugar Blue, Lil Ed, Willie Buck, Mary Lane, and many others. The Blues-Jam has always attracted seasoned, world-known recording artists as well as novices with a strong will to learn and network with other musicians. Our focus is on creating the best possible music. What sets Rosa's Blues-Jam apart is its commitment to providing direction and suggestions based on classic Blues songs, paying respect to the original black creators of the Blues. Luke Pytel is a dynamic blues guitarist and vocalist known for his high-energy performances and fiery guitar playing. Leading his own band for the last 13 years, Luke's diverse repertoire spans old-school blues, contemporary blues, and hits by artists like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Hailed by the Oxford American as an artist “beyond genre constraints, Reed Turchi is a GRAMMY Award Winning, EMMY Award Nominated musician from Swannanoa, North Carolina, who first learned to play guitar in North Mississippi from RL Burnside's longtime sideman Kenny Brown.
Turchi's signature "slide guitar & kudzu boogie" sound has been described as "a burst of blues rock…both spontaneous and crafted" by Rolling Stone and as "vital, live, and essential" by Living Blues Magazine. WORLD ON FIRE, Turchi's latest album, was declared "a striking exercise in inspired simplicity" by No Depression, and explored a more intimate atmosphere, somewhere between Muddy Waters' "Folk Singer” acoustic album and Bruce Springsteen's "Nebraska." American Blues Scene hailed the album as "a hypnotic blend of slide-guitar and snare-brush rhythm," while Pop Matters said listening to it is “like listening to an old 78rpm blues recording without the scratches and static."
Jimmy Burns Band - "Leaving Here Walking"
Jimmy Burns is a versatile musician with deep roots in the Chicago blues scene. Born in 1943 in Dublin, Mississippi, Burns moved to Chicago with his family at the age of twelve in 1955. His musical journey began early, learning to play the diddly bow and guitar as a child, influenced by his father's musical abilities and the blues records they listened to at home.
In Chicago, Burns initially pursued doo-wop and R&B, singing with groups like the Medallionaires as a teenager. He recorded several singles in the 1960s and early 1970s, which have since become rare collectors' items, especially in the UK's Northern Soul scene.
After taking a break from professional music to focus on family and run a BBQ restaurant, Burns returned to the blues scene in the early 1990s. He was signed to Delmark Records and released his breakthrough album "Leaving Here Walking" in 1996, which earned critical acclaim and awards.
Burns' style blends traditional Delta blues with R&B, soul, and even elements of jazz and rock. He's known for his strong vocal abilities and guitar skills, as well as his songwriting. Throughout his career, he has toured extensively, playing festivals in Europe, Russia, and South America.
Today, Burns continues to perform and record, often collaborating with younger musicians. He hosts an open mic night at Buddy Guy's Legends and is working on a new album called "Full Circle" with a jazz quartet. His discography includes several albums that showcase his diverse musical influences and his ability to interpret classic blues songs as well as write original material.
Despite his success, Burns remains modest about his talents and passionate about music, emphasizing that there are only two kinds of music: "good and bad." His life story represents a unique journey through various genres of American music, always circling back to his blues roots.
Carlos Johnson Band - "Out of Control" Blues
Carlos Johnson, a legendary Chicago blues musician born in 1953, discovered his musical calling at a young age. Surprising his parents by making music on a toy guitar, he soon graduated to a real six-string. Throughout high school, he honed his skills, performing in the Glee Club and sharing the stage with Sheila Hutchinson. Leaving school to pursue music, he later enlisted in the military before embarking on his illustrious blues career.
In the late '70s, Carlos joined forces with iconic blues queen Koko Taylor, marking the beginning of his Chicago blues journey. Over the years, he played with legends like Little Johnny Christian, Vance Kelly, and Son Seals, touring extensively and recording acclaimed albums. Carlos became a sought-after sideman, collaborating with various blues artists.
In 1989, he formed the Serious Blues Band and developed a devoted fan base in Poland. Carlos, a left-handed guitarist playing a right-handed instrument upside-down, influenced generations of players. His powerful vocals and aggressive playing style established him as one of the world's greatest contemporary blues guitarists. Inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame as a Master Blues Artist, Carlos Johnson's impact on the blues scene is enduring and influential.

Join us to experience students working out the blues with their own bands from the Old Town School of Folk Music. Witness the transformation that seven weeks of practice can bring to their sound! These performances will feature multiple groups playing non-stop music from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Vino Louden gives his best whether he is performing for 20 or 20,000. He was handpicked by Koko Taylor to join her Blues Machine. When she saw Louden in an Otis Clay video, she knew she had to have him as her guitarist. Vino has also played with legends like Mighty Joe Young, Bobby Rush, and more. Vino has been leading his own band for over a decade domestically and internationally.
